Recruiting Service facts!
Thursday, December 15, 2011 11:07:53 AM
Let me tell you some of the dirty tactics of recruiting services or showcase trainers trying to sell you on making a video for your son.... Did you know that when you submit a video and a profile to those services that they send a bulk email to all the coaches? Not an individual email just for you like they make it seem. Do you know what percentage of these emails get through to an actual decision maker??? Less than 50% even get delivered. Of that 50%, less than half of those get opened...of that half, I would bet that 10% could actually do something with the info … In other words it ends up in some assistant coaches inbox and he has no power to make decisions...of that 10% do you know how many actually watch those videos??? Not many. Here’s a fact... Did you know that when these services send videos and profiles to coaches they all go in one giant envelope? Yup. So, your profile and video might be in there with hundreds of other players. Do you know what some coaches did when I got those packages in the mail? Tossed them right in the garbage. Why? Because, like I said before these places take anybody in their camps and services. So, I would have to sift through hundreds of kids to find maybe one player who would fit what I was looking for. It would take days to go through all of that stuff. These services know that, but until now...they are banking on the fact you didn’t know that. Now, some college and universities with bigger staffs will give all of that stuff to their volunteer assistant. It might be their job to evaluate talent from those services, but they can not make a decision. This volunteer now has to “sell” among the hundreds of other fliers and videos to the decision maker, which typically will never happen. This gives the volunteer “practice” in the recruiting process and also fills the college’s camp database with names, addresses and emails. The industry stinks and it’s robbing people like you blind. They take advantage of the parent and athlete who feels like they are missing out if they don’t take every opportunity available
